“The Most Costly Journey” Comics Workshop with Marek Bennett

Drawing migrations & arrivals in comics through the ages…

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

Join award-winning cartoonist & educator Marek Bennett for a closer look at the VT Reads 2022 book, The Most Costly Journey.

Based on stories told by migrant farm workers and drawn in collaboration with New England cartoonists, this groundbreaking anthology provides a powerful model for exploring communities, citizenship, and survival. Marek presents some of the many comics documenting human migrations & struggles throughout the ages, and leads a hands-on demo to show how YOU can cartoon the stories of your own family, neighborhood, and wider world. (No prior art experience needed — Everybody can create comics!)
