The venerable “COMICS JAM” is one of my favorite ways to jump-start totally new & surprising stories. We’re “jamming” a LOT this summer @ our library sessions… It works great in large groups, or just 1-on-1.


SINGLE PAGE, FOLDED:
This is a great way to work w/ younger groups; It’s easier for new artists to focus on the developing artwork & storyline when the panels are already laid out simply & clearly!
This format also works well in virtual sessions. Below are some 4-panel jams drawn w/ story ideas from (remote) school groups!:

STARTING WITH A TITLE:
My pal Eben Burgoon does a Comics Jam workshop where everybody starts with a different randomly-selected title.
