Ama tu ritmo / Love Your Rhythm (Dario)

“Ama tu ritmo” by Nicaraguan poet Ruben Dario (Prosas profanas y otros poemas, 1896-1901): Dario-AmaTuRitmo-01-BW+TRAD (732x800) Dario-AmaTuRitmo-02-BW+TRAD (773x800) Dario-AmaTuRitmo-03-BW-TRAD (795x800)

AT FIRST I really struggled to start drawing this poem by Dario,
but its mathematical pulse kept me going …

  1. Amazing stuff! I have never come across Ruben Dario before, but thanks for the nudge to learn more about him (and to check out your illustrations for “A Roosevelt”). I love how you mirror the back and forth of the wordplay with your use of black and white space 🙂

    1. Muchas gracias… I hear the city of Leon (Nicaragua) (the poet’s birthplace & gravesite) is putting on an exhibition of Dario’s papers next month.
