Here’s our camp kitchen, built via the Planting Hope Coffee Camp program; the morning tortillas are fresh off the pan:
The whole coffee camp eats from this one traditional Nicaraguan stove (on the table, back right) and the wood that local families provide (that wet mossy stuff, far right).
Come night time, you’re more likely to see a teacher trying to re-ignite the fire in the hopes of boiling water to cook some scavenged spaghetti noodles…
And yes, that’s right, you’re looking at the kindling of choice here in Nicaragua: melting, flaming, fuming plastic bags.
