I love how a simple generative rule can create such lifelike structures. Can you see the rule behind this 5th-iteration hand-drawn snowflake fractal?
It starts with a simple six-pointed star skeleton:
Then each point of the star receives a circle area (inspired by almost-D3 integral Apollonian gaskets I found here):
And each circle receives a new star, and so on…
&c. &c. ad astra!
By the 4th iteration it looked like this:
